CAD drafting and BIM modelling, delivered remotely

Drawing production is skilled, deadline-driven work, and it often crowds out the design thinking your architects and engineers should be doing. Nexoryl runs CAD drafting and BIM modelling as a managed production team, working remotely from your sketches, markups and survey data, to your standards and drawing conventions.

Overview

What are CAD drafting and BIM modelling?

CAD drafting produces 2D technical drawings such as plans, sections and details. BIM modelling builds an information-rich 3D model, usually in Revit, from which drawings, schedules and quantities can be produced.

Both are production work that turns design intent into documents others can build from. The design decisions, and the professional responsibility for them, stay with your architects and engineers.

Nexoryl model

What does Nexoryl's CAD / BIM department do?

It produces drawings and models remotely from your inputs: drafting, BIM modelling, PDF and scan conversions, revisions and standards checks, delivered to your templates and naming conventions.

Nexoryl doesn't carry out site surveys, laser scanning or construction work, and doesn't sign off designs. Your registered professionals review, approve and take responsibility for every output.

Responsible for
2D drafting, BIM modelling, drawing conversions, revisions, sheet setup, standards checks and file organisation.
Not included
Site surveys, laser scanning, design calculations, professional sign-off and any construction work.

Typical work

What you send, and what comes back.

Every package starts from inputs you supply. Nothing is measured or captured on site by Nexoryl.

Where production slows

Four problems a production team solves.

Most practices don't lack design talent. They lack production capacity at the right moment.

01

Designers stuck drafting

Shows up as
Architects and engineers spend their week on sheets and revisions.
We look at
Where drafting time goes on current projects.
What changes
Production moved to the team, with your designers reviewing rather than drawing.
02

Inconsistent drawings

Shows up as
Layers, line weights and file naming differ from person to person.
We look at
Your CAD and BIM standards and templates.
What changes
Every file checked against your standards before it's returned.
03

Revision confusion

Shows up as
Nobody is sure which sheet is current.
We look at
Revision tracking and file naming.
What changes
A revision log and naming that matches your common data environment.

Peaks you can't staff

Deadlines bunch up, and freelancers vary in quality.

What changes
A production team that scales with your workload.

How remote delivery works

How a production engagement runs.

A pilot package proves quality against your standards before larger work starts.

  1. Step 1: Pilot

A small package produced to your standards to prove quality and fit.

  2. Step 2: Agree standards

Templates, naming, QA checklist and review steps agreed.

  3. Step 3: Produce

Work delivered in agreed batches, with progress visible daily.

  4. Step 4: Check

Internal QA against your standards before anything is sent.

  5. Step 5: Revise and hand over

Markups turned round, revisions logged and files organised.

All outputs are reviewed and approved by your registered professionals. Nexoryl produces drawings and models; it doesn't take design responsibility.

Scope and boundaries

What's included, and what stays with you.

Production from supplied inputs only. Anything on site, and any design responsibility, stays with you.

  • Models from supplied point clouds and surveys
  • Revisions and sheet management
  • Standards checks and file organisation

Not included

  • Site surveys, measuring or laser scanning
  • Structural, building services or design calculations
  • Professional review, stamping or sign-off
  • Construction, installation or site supervision
  • Printing or plotting physical drawings

What you provide

  • Sketches, markups and design files

Measurement

How a production team is measured.

Quality first, then delivery against your project dates.

Quality

  • Sheets passing internal QA first time
  • Reviewer comments per package
  • Standards deviations

Delivery

  • Packages delivered on schedule
  • Revision turnaround time
  • Work in progress against plan

Capacity

  • Sheets or models per period
  • Peak demand met
  • Backlog age

Files

  • Naming compliance
  • Correct revision issued
  • Handover completeness

These are measurement categories, not promised figures.

Who does the work

The people producing your drawings.

Sized to project pipeline and peak periods.

Production Lead

Owns standards, schedules and the relationship with your reviewers.

CAD Drafters and BIM Modellers

Produce drawings and models from your inputs.

QA Checker

Checks every package against your standards before delivery.

A good fit when

  • Your designers spend too much time drafting
  • Drawing standards vary between people
  • Deadlines bunch up and freelancers are inconsistent
  • You have legacy PDFs that need to become editable files

Probably not the right fit when

  • You need site surveys or laser scanning
  • You need designs stamped or certified
  • You need construction or site work

Ways to start

Three ways to begin.

A pilot package is the fastest way to judge quality against your standards.

01

Pilot package

A small drawing package or model produced to your standards.

02

Project production

Drawings and models for a defined project, delivered in agreed batches.

03

Managed production team

Ongoing production capacity on a monthly retainer.

Fees depend on package size, complexity and turnaround, and are agreed after the pilot.

Questions

Questions about CAD drafting and BIM modelling.

If your question isn't here, email us. The answer usually depends on your standards and project type.

Can CAD drafting and BIM modelling be done remotely?

Yes. Drawings and models are produced from files you supply and exchanged through your common data environment or shared drive, with reviews by video and markup tools.

Do you carry out site surveys or laser scanning?

No. Nexoryl works only from inputs you supply. If existing conditions need capturing, your surveyor provides the data and we model from it.

Can you build a Revit model from a point cloud?

Yes, from point-cloud data you've had captured, to the level of detail you specify.

Which software do you use?

AutoCAD and Revit, with Navisworks for model review, working in your templates and your file environment.

Will the drawings follow our standards?

Yes. Your templates, layers, naming and title blocks are agreed in the pilot, and every package is checked against them before delivery.

Do you sign off or stamp drawings?

No. Your registered architects or engineers review, approve and take professional responsibility for every output.

How do you handle revisions?

Markups are turned round within agreed times, with every change logged and the current revision clearly identified.

What do you need from us to start?

Sketches or design files, your standards and templates, any survey data, and a reviewer for each package.

Next step

Give your designers their drawing time back.

Tell us what you need produced and the standards you work to. We'll start with a pilot package so you can judge the quality.
